The Perry Stio Legacy Scholarship
The Perry Stio Legacy Scholarship was established to support the next generation of educators who lead with their hearts. Dr. Stio spent over 40 years in the Piscataway School District as a teacher and principal, believing that a classroom’s success begins with the character of its leader. This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating Piscataway High School senior who intends to pursue a degree in Education and who embodies the core principles Dr. Stio lived by: kindness, integrity, and a dedication to others.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Current Senior: Must be a graduating senior at Piscataway High School.
Future Educator: Must be accepted into an accredited two- or four-year college or university with a declared major in Education (Elementary, Secondary, or Special Education).
How the Scholarship is Awarded
The scholarship process is designed to be transparent and fair, overseen by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
The Application: Students submit a formal application including a personal essay.
The Review: All applications are anonymized (names removed) and reviewed by the judging panel to ensure an unbiased selection based purely on merit and character.
The Announcement: The award will be announced and presented at the PHS Award ceremony!
Scholarship Application Status
The Perry Stio Legacy Foundation is officially accepting applications for our inaugural $5,000 scholarship. We are looking for Piscataway High School seniors who embody Dr. Stio’s "Be Kind" philosophy and plan to pursue a career in education.

Award: $5,000 (Distributed over 4 years)
